Q Instructor 

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Q Instructor! 

Starting in January 2026, to become authorized to teach the Q Grader Course as a Q Instructor, candidates must meet the following requirements:  

  • Hold a current Sensory Skills AST authorization  

  • Hold a valid Q Grader certificate  

  • Successfully pass the Q Instructor Onboarding Exam  

ABOUT Q GRADER COURSE

The Q Instructor Onboarding exam is designed to prepare Q instructors to both teach and administer the Q Grader course.  

When you start the examination process you will have 45 days to pass the exam.  You can take the exam as many times as you like.  Passing score is 90%.  If you do not pass in the 45 days, you will need to wait 30 days in order to attempt the exam again.  

To help ensure consistency in course delivery and the learner’s experience, you will have access to a course guidebook and supplemental documents, as well as optional curriculum-focused webinars to deepen your knowledge and help you prepare for the exam.  

 Ready to start the process?

  1. Complete the Q Instructor Application.  Go to the AST Portal > AST Licenses to find the Q Instructor Application

  2. Once application is approved, you may begin the exam .  

  3. The official start to your examination process is when you click Start Onboarding Exam Now . You will receive an email once your Q Instructor Application is approved explaining where and how to start the examination process.
